Our History

ShoEi Foods began in 1904 when Tasuke Honda opened the Seikosha Milk Shop and dairy cattle farm in Tokyo, Japan. In 1947 two brothers, Shoichi and Eiji Honda, established ShoEi Foods Corporation in Tokyo.

ShoEi Foods USA was established in Oregon in 1985 as a food ingredient company and relocated in 1990 to California, where it started growing and processing prunes.

In 2008 ShoEi Foods USA entered into a working partnership in the prune industry with Sunsweet Growers. The following year in 2009 ShoEi founded a walnut processing operation in Olivehurst in Yuba County, California, in the heart of the fertile Sacramento Valley.

ShoEi Foods core values

ShoEi Foods USA respects its Japanese heritage through its guiding principle to be Ichiban (#1) in the California walnut industry and Ichiban to our customers, growers, suppliers, and employees.
